Dāte Kenshin is the father of Date Akiko and Date Kiyoshi, a great warrior who died at the Battle of Nakasendo.
He was the owner of the red-handled daisho, that was eventually passed on to Jack, by Akiko; as, according to her, "he would have wanted" Jack to have the swords.
