Ginsel

Ginsel was a Dutch sailor and part of the crew of the Alexandria, which had set sail for the Japans from England. He only appears in the first book.

Way of the Warrior

Ginsel has Jack Fletcher, an experienced rigging monkey, assist the crew with one of the sails when the ship is sinking. When the Alexandria 's crew is slaughtered by the wako, Ginsel is not seen until the fighting has died down, where he, at this point completely insane, states he set alight explosives on the ship. He had been planning to blow up the ship, taking the wako and in turn Jack down with him. He was killed by Dokugan Ryu, the green-eyed ninja, only seconds after telling Jack his plan.

• Ginsel, along with Christiaan, were the only known Dutch members of the Alexandria's crew.
